Celebrating a VISFF Award
I have the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival to thank for one of the greatest talking pieces in my home. It is a golden VHS tape trophy award for Best Writing for Kindergarten, Da Bin Ich Wieder which recently screened at the VISFF.
The festival takes place in Nanaimo, BC and people come from far and wide to watch the films and to eat free Nanaimo bars. Just kidding! Although I wouldn’t know, because I was unable to attend due to the worst flight delay ever but that is a story for another time!
I really wish I could have personally accepted the award for Best Writing, but Karla Duarte, Festival Director for the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival met up to present me with the “Goldie”, their super cool trophy Designed by ceramic artist Brendan Lee Satish Tang, it’s named after Shirley Goldberg, a Social Justice activist and the first professor at Vancouver Island University.
I am so honoured to receive this recognition!
